Hi, my name is Rachel, and I am the owner of Broken Fall. I am seventeen years old and a senior in high school, from which I will graduate in May of 2010. My birthday is January 21, 1993, and I reside in the United States in the state of Michigan.

One of my dreams is to learn to speak Japanese fluently and to teach elementary school in Japan. Even if my elementary education goal changes, I will still definitely try to move to Japan. I love Japanese; it is definitely my favorite language, though it is followed closely by Hebrew, since I am Jewish and therefore have a personal connection to the language. I intend to study both at university.

My favorite hobby is web design, which you can see in the efforts that I put into this site on a day to day basis. Even when I can’t update because of schoolwork, I feel guilty for not being able to and wish very much that I could. Some of my other hobbies include crocheting stuffed toys and learning bits of Japanese by listening to podcasts from Japanese Pod 101 or by playing my Nintendo DS game entitled My Japanese Coach.

Listening to music is both fun and meaningful to me. I like a lot of different kinds of music, such as rock (including some lighter metal), alternative, techno, R&B, and rap. My music taste is pretty diverse; I pretty much like anything that’s catchy/fun, or something with a message that I really like (as long as the song still sounds good, too). I’m not a big fan of country, but there are a few country songs that I absolutely love.

My favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and if you know what I’m talking about, Spike is my favorite character. My favorite movies include The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and the Underworld series. I like a lot of dark movies and some action films. If you know any good ones, please recommend them to me. I also love the classic Disney movies, and I proudly showcase their music on my iPod.

The way I dress is important to me in defining who I am and in expressing myself. I like dressing how I want rather than following trends. However, I’m not against trends and if there’s one I like I have nothing against going along with it. Often I like to dress like a rocker, and other times I feel like letting my geekiness show more than usual, for example with my Transformers shirt. That one’s a crowd favorite. My favorite items of clothing that I own would probably be my pink and black plaid skirt and my blackish vest, though I have a lot of other things I love as well.

I love to have all kinds of different pens and pencils. My favorite place to go pencil shopping is Sanrio because I love cute pencils, and I can buy pens anywhere, they just have to be colorful. The pencil I use most frequently actually cost me $12.50 ($7.50 plus $5.00 shipping), which just goes to show that I love my pencils. Really, I do.

My offline best friend and amazing boyfriend is Jimmy.
